Rufus

Hi. My name is Rufus. I am a beautiful Black and White Parti color cocker. I am between 6-8 years old. I don't know exactly how I ended up at the shelter but I was running loose and no one ever claimed me. So Cocker rescue is taking care of me now. I act younger than my age but am not hyper like some puppies can be. I am completely potty trained. I am healthy and heartworm negative and just got my teeth cleaned and got neutered. I get along with all the foster siblings and the cat.

One thing you should know, is I am mostly blind from juvenile cataracts. I get around well though, and you wouldn't know it unless my foster mom told you. I LOVE to sleep in the bed and can get up and down just fine. I also like to watch tv on the couch. I love belly rubs and like to lay in your lap on my back while you watch tv. I like to run around in the backyard as it did not take me long to figure out how to get around. I like baths ok. I like rawhide chewies so much. I hope someone will give me a good home. By the way I like to go on car rides and walks. So I would make a really good traveling buddy for an older couple or family. Rufus

From Foster Mom. Rufus is a beautiful dog with a very kind and loving demeanor. He loves people and the other dogs. He does not mind our 3 year old daughter but can be a bit defensive of his chewies and doesn't like her in his face when he is sleeping. SO he would be better off in a home with children over the age of 10 or who understand his situation. Ideally he would probably like another animal companion but not too many so that he can have individual attention. Ideally he would make a great companion for a retired couple who maybe travel. He LOVES car rides and does not get sick. He can be left alone in the house without supervision. He is pretty close to perfect, except for his vision. He is NOT impaired by this as far as getting around. He loves walks and does well on a leash. He doesn't bark unless necessary. He loves to be inside but will go outside when asked. He has never sprayed or had any kind of an accident in our house. He is not food aggressive. Like I said, pretty well PERFECT. He will make someone an excellent companion. He gets along with everyone. Don't let his blindness stand in your way of this little guy. he is active and has many good years left. He will steal your heart. Get your application in today.
