Royal Princesses, that’s what we are! When we got to our foster home, the first thing we did was take over the couch. Then, Sierra bathed the cat. Our foster mom gave us dog cookies, but we didn’t really know what to do with them, so we hid them in the couch. We don’t really know what balls or squeaky toy are for either, but we love to bounce around the yard and play, anyway! We are very lady-like and gentle with our food and treats, and don’t mind sharing food or water bowls with the two cockers that already live here. Please take us home and let us warm your couch, your heart, and your lap! Our foster mom says: What a sweet pair! Proof that dogs live in the NOW and don’t let the past hold them down—they are from the ‘Weatherford Cocker’ group. Though they don’t seem to know their names or any obedience commands, they are learning to look up when called, and will follow me wherever I go. Seem to be mostly housebroken, and are getting it when I say we’re going ‘outside’. Sierra even whines a tiny bit to let you know she needs to go out – you just have to listen to her. We are using sit, off, down, and come, and they are watching and learning. Not really leash trained, but a little tug and they go right along with you. They enjoyed riding in the car, too! Have not tried crating them; they like to sleep together and are bedding down in my guest bathroom on a big, fluffy blanket and have left no messes in there. They prefer to stay with people so they do whine a little at first, but once the lights go out and things quiet down they go right to sleep. Also, I think they might have been fed an awful lot of people food. They’re not fat, but they are definitely couch potatoes and could do with some exercise to build up some muscle tone. Need a little more manner training on begging. Sierra in particular is very alert when I’m in the kitchen cooking or doing dishes – I keep things back away from the edge or she may just get something she shouldn’t have! A few weeks just eating dog foods and dog treats and I think they’ll forget all about table scraps. These two should stay together—they stick so closely to each other it’s like one dog! Sierra is possibly Starr’s sister. They’ve both been spayed, heartworm negative, and passed their physicals with flying colors. While fine with all my cats, they do growl quietly at my two cockers, but a little squirt does wonders to re-direct that—and it’s getting better each day. And though my two bark at many things, these two have barked very little. They are also learning to use the doggie door – Starr has it all figured out. Someone is going to strike gold adding these two snuggly, huggable princesses to their castle! |
