Vinnie

First of all, I would like to introduce an older feller by the name Vinnie.   I, his foster mom, call him Vinnie Winnie, because of his sweet, laidback nature.

Vinnie first of all is probably the best behaved dog I, personally, have ever been around. He has not had a single accident in my home, nor have I heard him bark!! WOW and that doesn't even begin to describe his sweet soulful eyes and big wrinkles. He loves more than anything to be sleeping next to you or to go off on an errand in the car to Lowe's or just to grab a bite to eat.

Who Vinnie lives with: Vinnie lives with a 100plus lb Mastiff, 2 small chihuahuas under 10lbs and a handful of cats. And out of all his crazy brothers and sisters, he's the best behaved, he is not cat, big dog, small dog, or child aggressive.

How Vinnie Spends his Days: Vinnie hates being alone, so Vinnie spends his days roaming the yard or house with his buddies.  Due to separation anxiety, Vinnie needs to be with another dog or cat at all times. They make him feel secure.

He spends his days napping with the cats or chihuahuas, sunnying in the yard with the big dog during potty breaks, and daily walks to the lake for a quick dip to cool off. He gives everybody a lick and goes on his way. The cats have fallen in love with Vinnie, he spends his naps cuddled up with his cat of his choice! Its quite cute!

Ohh did I saw that Vinnie also uses the doggy door to go and out of the house for potty breaks!

Is Vinnie this or that: Is Vinnie cat friendly? YES! He naps often with the cats on the couch or on a pet bed

Is Vinnie small dog friendly? Yes, he has no aggression what so ever towards any dogs. Is Vinnie big dog friendly? Yes, Vinnie is very big dog friendly Is Vinnie child friendly? Yes, Vinnie has playdates with the neighbor kids.   He loves kids.   All he wants is a pet and a hug.

Is Vinnie housetrained? N/A, No accidents so far, of course he has to meet the 12 wk mark with no accidents! He doesn't mark in the house either!

Is Vinnie crate-trained? Yes, he doesn't stay in his kennel at my home, he sleeps at night on the foot of my bed, and he uses a doggy-door to go in and out of the house whenever he chooses.

Is Vinnie a pack-dog? Yes, Vinnie does very well with other animals.   He looks to them often to see if its alright to have a treat or a drink of water. Vinnie would do well with another dog or cat in his forever home.

Is Vinnie High energy? Oh gosh no! Vinnie is very mellow, calm, he likes a daily 30 minute walk to the lake with the rest of the pack, but most of the time he spends his time napping.

Vinnie's Health: Vinnie first of all is heartworm positive but he's being treated for his condition and should recover fully. Vinnie is neutered, up to date on all his shots including rabies.

Vinnie is low-energy at the moment.  This could be due to his heartworms or he might naturally be low-energy. Time will tell.

Vinnie has several chipped and missing front teeth due to living life in a kennel. His teeth do not hurt him. He just prefers to eat moist or wet food instead of hard kibble. Most dogs if caged non-stop will try to break their kennels with their teeth, therefore chipping and losing their front teeth in the process.

Vinnie has separation anxiety, he will run around in circles non-stop to find someone or some animal to cuddle with. He prefers the cats since they cuddle up with him. He would do best in a home with another animal. The other animal is like protection for Vinnie, he feels comfortable and relaxed being with his humans if he has another dog or cat nearby.

Heart Worm is a disease so easily preventable by the regular administration of a simple preventative medication. The treatment for heart worms is performed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and involves the administration to the infected animal of a systemic poison to kill the adult worms and larvae. It is difficult for the animal, who must be kept quiet and unstimulated during the cycle of administration or risk death from either the drugs used in treatment or the clumping of the dead worms in their cardio-vascular system. Please keep your pets on heart worm preventative. For further information:
